Meet Dr. Utterback

Dr. Ben Utterback grew up in North Canton and graduated from Hoover High School in 1992. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Mount Union in 1996, followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 2000.

A dedicated and passionate practitioner, Dr. Utterback is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (2019), achieving the highest recognition among dentists who treat sleep-disordered breathing.

He is an active member of the Stark County Dental Society, the Ohio Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. In 2025, he is proudly serving as vice president of the Stark County Dental Society and is set to become its president in 2026.

Throughout his career, Dr. Utterback has been a sought-after speaker on the role of dentistry in treating obstructive sleep apnea. He regularly lectures at the University of Mount Union, both in the undergraduate MED 100 course and the Physician Assistant program. He has also shared his expertise with medical and dental professionals across the region, including as a guest lecturer at the Summa Hospital Sleep Symposium in November 2024, and most recently as the featured presenter for a full-day continuing education seminar as part of the Stark County Dental Society’s University Series.

Dr. Utterback has contributed his expertise to the Ohio State Dental Board, helping shape guidelines for dentists treating obstructive sleep apnea. Additionally, he was recently nominated to the Mastery Program Committee of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine at the national level, which develops advanced educational programming for professionals in the field.

In early 2025, Dr. Utterback made a pivotal shift by selling his general dentistry practice to launch Dental Sleep Solutions of Northeast Ohio. This transition allows him to devote 100% of his professional focus to dental sleep medicine. His new practice enables quicker consultations, timely treatment with oral appliance therapy, and close collaboration with medical providers to ensure comprehensive care for patients with sleep-related breathing disorders.

Outside the office, Dr. Ben enjoys playing golf, traveling, and tending to his koi pond. He lives in Canton with his wife, Torie, and their two daughters, Laurel and Addyson.
